This course is designed for high school students, but may be taken by eligible middle school students. Algebra IB students will study the foundational skills of Algebra including equations, multi-step word problems, geometry basics, linear graphing and quadratic equations. They will do the second half of the Algebra I book this year, which allows them to really grasp these important foundational concepts.
Students will be required to have their homework graded at home, so the Solutions Manual is necessary. TRA will provide all tests and assessments; you will not need the HS Test packet. Reading the Course Overview and watching the How To Math Notebook video is MANDATORY to take this class.
Curriculum: Saxon Algebra 1 Textbook, 3rd Edition, plus the Saxon Algebra I Solutions Manual, 3rd Edition. Several copies are available for loan at the school library; check with the front office. A scientific calculator is required.
1.0 Credit (Algebra I)
Upper school classes meet in two-hour blocks Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Core high school courses can be taken at the honors level with administration approval. Questions about placement? Call (407) 688-2445 or ask Guidance.
